Designer dog Breed for sale: Teacup, Hypoallergenic, Rare. Once in a lifetime chance for this designer dog!?

Question by Golden: Designer dog Breed for sale: Teacup, Hypoallergenic, Rare. Once in a lifetime chance for this designer dog!?
Hi!! I am a breeder of rott -bull -sheagle-doodles. They are a teacup breed, and are hypoallergenic. When full grown, they will be approximetly 2.3 pounds. True to their breed! I ship all over the U.S. Are you interested? This is a RARE breed of dog. I am selling each puppy for $ 3,150. Let me know if you are interested!

Legit: Aren’t you tired of all of these “designer” dog breeds? Such as the “Schnoodle” “Cavtese” “Goldendoodle” “Maltipoo.”

Do people really thing that a dog mixed with poodle, will NOT shed? Come on, that is crazy!

And, when Back Yard Breeders add silly names to dogs to sell them, while thousands of shelter dogs are being put to sleep.

What are your thoughts on these “purebred” dogs. (Yes, people think that a “Yorkie poo” is a pure bred dog!)

What do you think?
Oh, poor “Sara…..”

Such a shame! Did you read my whole post?

Those are what I call Purebread dogs. I used to think it was a spelling problem, but now I think the spelling is telling.

Hypoallergenic Dog Breeds – A Glance At The Various Breeds

When you or a family has allergies, then choosing a dog which has a lower rate of spreading allergens, called hypoallergenic, is ideal for you. There are a large variety of these breeds which have this trait. Choosing the right dog would depend upon various other circumstances.

In choosing such a hypoallergenic dog, you would have to consider the breed based upon your accommodation. If you are living in an apartment or a condo, then a smaller dog would be bette suited for your living space. If however, you have your own home, with a fairly big backyard, then your choice widens from the small dogs to even large dogs who have the same hypoallergenic quality.

These dogs have low hair shedding, no undercoats or dander. Additionally, their skin has little dead, skin cells. For those of you who suffer from allergies, we recommend some breeds for your consideration: Irish water Spaniel, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and Bedlington Terrier. A brief description of each of these follows.

Larger than other breeds is the Irish Water Spaniel. They have very short hair, which, like human males require trimming once in two months. That helps keeping shedding of hair under control, and thereby allergens egress into your home. It’s a friendly dog, that enjoys walking, running around, looking for fun, and likes to swim in more warmer climes during the year.

The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is not meant for those with apartments. It is a dog which really likes to jump around, and barks at random, as if it wants to hear its own voice. Strangely for a dog, this one is friendly, and welcomes strangers! It really likes people. If that is what you want, this one is for you. You will have to teach it to help your security by learning how to discern family friends, and real strangers; otherwise it’s chaos! You can choose between the Traditional Irish, Heavy Irish, English and American. It’s size determines its name.

For those who live in apartments and have allergies, the Bedlington Terriers is the best choice. They are smaller than the others described above. They need grooming with a hair brush for their short coats. They also need to have their hair cut once in a quarter or less, so as to have a healthy short coat, which then helps you brush their coats, and prevent allergens coming into the home. They are full of energy, and love exercise. And it would also get you exercise when you take them out for a walk.

If you do have allergies, as stated earlier, it may be advisable to consult with your physician, who can then recommend a Vet. The Vet would be able to tell you about which breeds are best suited for your type of allergy, and accordingly you should make your choice. Do remember that when choosing a breed, the size of your home would matter quite a bit, because some breeds require space to indulge themselves and expend their energy. Smaller varities are best suited where the home is small, or is an apartment. Larger dogs tend to bark, and that may disturb your neighbours; the smaller ones require less frisky places, and generally their barking is quite muted, and often times, not so much, as the larger ones. Also you need to take care of their grooming, and keeping them clean so as to keep the allergens lower than what they already have.

Choosing A Hypoallergenic Dog

Edit Article |

People who suffer from dog allergies tend to have a very tough time being around dogs in general making it miserable for them to have a pet dog.  Their allergies flair up and bring about terrible sneezing, stuffy noses, skin rashes and watery/itchy eyes that they develop while in the proximity of dogs.   Luckily, there are special types of dog which are considered hypoallergenic dogs that can allow someone with dog allergies to still have a canine pet.

Generally dog allergy symptoms develop because of allergen particles which are given off in the air from dog skin and hair.  The allergens mostly come from things the dog hair has come into contact with such as dust and pollen, which trigger allergies.  People who have dog allergies have immune systems which tend to be weaker when they are in contact with the various allergens, triggering the various symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing and skin rashes or hives.  To further illustrate why dogs can cause allergies for some people, dogs which have more hair tend to pick up more of the allergen particles.  Therefore someone who suffers from dog allergies would want to avoid dogs like the German Shepherd, Irish Setter or Afghan Hound.

The alternative to having no dog whatsoever is to choose a dog which will cause less or minimal allergies.  Hypoallergenic dogs are dogs that create less allergens in the air due to their physical size and fur lengths.  Some of these dogs have very minimal shedding of their hair which helps to reduce the chance for any allergen particles being sent into the air.  It’s important to note that no dog is considered truly hypoallergenic, because all dogs give off some degree of allergens, and dog allergies can be different from person to person.

There’s several potential pets that a person with dog allergies can consider.  Breeds of dog such as the Pomeranian, Irish Terrier, Samoyed, Portuguese Water Dog and Miniature Schnauzers are considered great pets for those with dog allergies due to minimal shedding or dander.  The Incha Orchid, Chinese Crested, American Hairless Terrier or the Mexican Hairless are also great choices as these dogs are almost all hairless.  Also consider the environment or living arrangement when choosing the dog.  Dogs such as Irish Terriers and Poodles tend to do better with families while Portuguese Water Dogs and Chihuahuas are better with one person.

When selecting a prospective pet dog, one of the best pieces of advice for the prospective dog owner who has dog allergies is for that person to spend at least 30 minutes around the potential pet dog.  This can help the individual gauge whether or not that dog will be right for them, or cause them to suffer from dog allergies.  If the dog being considered lives at a breeder far away, sending a piece of clothing is an alternate way to test things.  Once the clothing item has been placed near the dog for a day or so it can be sent back for the individual to test by wearing or smelling to see if it causes any allergy problems.

People who enjoy the companionship of having a pet dog yet have allergy complications don’t have to be pet-less.  A hypoallergenic dog can provide the perfect solution to allow a dog allergy sufferer to have a pet dog while cutting down on the coughing, sneezing and irritations that come with allergies.

How To Groom Your Hypoallergenic Dog

How To Groom Your Hypoallergenic Dog

Buying a hypoallergenic dog may help reduce allergic reactions to dog hair and dander, but these dogs require special attention because of their hair. Most of these breeds have short coats that resemble human hair rather than traditional fur. As a result, these dogs shed as much as humans, which means they require regular haircuts just like human beings do. Grooming is an essential part of taking care of a hypoallergenic dog. If you do not have the time to schedule regular appointments or the money to pay for three of four groomings a year, then you may have to buy another breed of dog.

While there are tools that you can use to groom your dog, if you do not feel comfortable or if your dog gets angry when you try to groom them, then you will have to find a professional groomer that will trim your dog’s hair. Groomers can be found in the phone book, online, or at chain pet stores. Choosing a groomer is not difficult, but sometimes finding one that does a good job can be.

The first time your dog visits a groomer, tell them how much hair to trim. When you bring the dog home, inspect the hair to see that the cut is even, that there are no cuts on the dog’s skin, and that it was cut to your specifications. If the groomer did not do their job, then you should find a new one. But if the dog was happy being with groomer and they did what you asked, then you should continue visiting them. Groomers can also trim the hair on your dog’s face and clip their nails.

In between groomings, you will have to brush your dog so that the hair does not clump or become matted to their skin. This can cause a lot of health issues and could cause the dog to be uncomfortable. A good grooming brush should not cost too much and your groomer can recommend the right style for your dog. Always brush in the direction of the hair and not against it as this will cause matting to occur. Your dog should enjoy the way the brush feels. You can brush your dog at any time as long as they are comfortable. It will only take a few minutes to properly brush your dog.

Matted hair can be difficult to untangle and you may need to bathe your dog in order to loosen the knots. Do not pull too hard or your dog will get unset. If the matted piece will not untangle, you should wait until the next grooming for it to be cut out. If knots persist, then you may need to brush your dog more often or have its hair cut even shorter.

Grooming and brushing are two ways that pet owners can show love toward their pets. Hypoallergenic dogs are special because more people can tolerate being around them. In return, it is your job to make sure their coat is always healthy.

Portugese Water Dogs – A General description And Its Hypoallergenic Nature

Portugese Water Dogs – A General description And Its Hypoallergenic Nature

Portugese water dogs are so known because they were used for assisting in fishing. It is a rare breed, and difficult to find. You will really have to make an extensive search for these dogs, if you are bent upon one. Try newspaper ads, the Kennel Club, or breeders, or in surrounding communities. And if you are really that choosy, well, you can even put in an ad in the newspaper.

They have wavy or curly hair, and live between 12 to 14 years. And come in white or black, or a mixture of the two colors.

Typically, PWDs or Portuguese Water Dogs are working dogs, and are characterised by having short hair, and is generally considered to be free generally from creating allergies to people. Hence they are called Hypoallergenic. It is lively, loves companionship, and is hyper active. It tends to get bored, if just left hanging around. You need to keep it busy.

Keeping it busy is easier said than done. If you or your children are not playing around with it, because of your preoccupation with your work, and the children are off to school, this PWD needs to be given lots of toys in a large box with which it can play. If you are going out, and the PWD is to kept back in the house, you might as well put it in the box in a manner it can’t get out, and provide a variety of playthings for it inside the pen. If you don’t, when you return, you may not recognise your house!

It loves company of both adults and children. And be prepared to take it for long walks every day, or have someone from the family take it. It is quite harmless, but still if your local regs require it, you would have to have it on a leash. It likes to pounce around and play all the time, and you better indulge it! That exercise would be good for your body also!

Of course you have to train this dog in much the same manner as you would for a different breed. The training should begin as soon as you get one, and special attention needs to be put on crate training, and leash training. Crate training and leash training needs to be done, so that it will quickly understand that it is going to left alone, and will get used to it. If it requires disciplining do not use the crate; choose some other method, like tying it to a short leash, and take away its playthings or place it near it, but unable to reach it. Then as you gently chide it, and it starts reacting better, you reintroduce its toys to it. That should help.

In grooming, the PWD should receive a hair cut about once in 2 months. Giving it a bath would help remove some allergens, although as said earlier, this dog has a low propensity of producing allergens. Still, it does need a wash. The hair cut can be done by yourself, by giving an even cut all over the body, or you can shape it in any way you want. The first time you can take to the vet barber who will show you how the hair can be trimmed and shaped, for it to look different. Later, you can do it yourself.

Grooming and Brushing Tips for Dogs That are Hypoallergenic

Grooming and Brushing Tips for Dogs That are Hypoallergenic

Havanese Dogs Are Hypoallergenic

Havanese Dogs Are Hypoallergenic

If you suffer from allergies and your in the market for a new dog, it would make sense that you look for a dog that is hypoallergenic. Be aware though that no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, and some are just basically considered low allergy dogs. A hypoallergenic dog will typically shed a lot less hair than typical dogs. Even hairless dogs shed some dander or hair to some degree.

Please be advised that if you are to get a Havanese dog that these dogs must be groomed regularly to help keep them as hypoallergenic as can be. It’s known that dogs without any hair or that grows hair continuously are the best dogs for hypoallergenic people. While some people are really allergic to everything of the dog, including it’s saliva, there are unfortunately no breed of dog that is hypoallergenic in terms of saliva. Some individuals who have terrible, highly severe allergies may still not be able to be around hypoallergenic dogs at all. Before deciding is the Havanese dog is right for you, perhaps it would be a great idea if you spent just a few days around them first , to find out if you’ll be fine owning on of them.

You might be lucky to find that not all dogs are created equal , meaning that while one breed of dog might make you get allergies, and another might just not! You might even be so lucky as to find a particular dog that you are not allergic to, whereas you are indeed allergic to that breed of dog, so it all varies really. This is exactly why it makes sense that you spend some time with the dog to find out exactly if it would be a good investment to go ahead and get the dog or not.

If you are getting a hybrid dog , you should also be aware of their rather low potential to take hypoallergenic qualities. Again, the best measure of this will always be to spend some time with the mutt to see if you really are allergic to it or not.

The bottom line is that depending on how severe you allergies actually are, you might still find it to be incredibly bearable to live around a Havanese dog. As a rule of thumb, always keep your dogs hair cut regularly, as this is probably the best way to keep the dog itself at it’s most allergen free. Also, if you have carpets in your home, you may want to clean them regularly, at least once every other day. This should greatly help with keeping household allergens out of your way also! If you have curtains of drapes then you should really consider washing them at least once a week. Have you ever considered getting a home air purifier?

And lastly , you should also consider talking to your health care provider for safe, easy to take medicines that you might be able to take that can also greatly help you manage the nuisance of pet allergies and also household allergens.

Breed Spotlight: Portuguese Water Dog

If you are considering a Portuguese Water Dog, then prepare yourself for constant companionship. This breed needs to be walked, played with, and entertained during their every waking moment. If you work away from home for more than a few hours per day, then this dog is not for you. If you’re unable to get outside with your pup and run her ragged, then this dog is not for you. Consider your lifestyle, and then decide if a Portuguese Water Dog will complement it. Otherwise, look at the more docile breeds.

A Brief History of the Portuguese Water Dog

As its name suggests, the area of origin of this breed is Portugal. A diligent and alert water dog, its ancestry probably includes the Poodle, which is apparent from its curly-haired appearance. In its native land, the breed is known as “Cao de Agua”, which literally translates into “water dog”. The Portuguese Water Dog comes in two varieties: long-haired and curly-coated.

This breed developed from herding dogs of the central Asian grasslands and is believed to have arrived in Portugal between the fifth and eight centuries. Once established, its usefulness to Portuguese industry as a water dog became quickly apparent. Moreover, the dog’s high energy, intelligence, and work ethic contributed to its immense rise in popularity. Among its many historical jobs, the Portuguese Water Dog served as couriers between boats and the shoreline; with fishermen, the dogs swam out to retrieve nets and other wayward equipment. They even worked alongside trawler crews when fishing the chilly waters of the Arctic Circle. Technological invention has long since replaced many jobs previously bestowed upon the Portuguese Water Dog.

The breed arrived in the United States during the 1950s and gained AKC recognition in 1984.

Temperament, Appearance, & Grooming

Portuguese Water Dogs require constant human contact. This is arguably the most energetic and lively breed alive today. They have an endless amount of energy to swim, run, play, and retrieve. So it’s no surprise that rigorous daily exercise is an absolute must for your Portuguese Water Dog to maintain a balanced, fulfilled life. If kept inside all day while you’re at work, this breed will likely become frustrated and destructive. Portuguese Water Dogs are easy-going and generally get along well with children and other pets. They can tolerate most climates but should live inside with the family since (let’s all say it together!) ongoing human contact is a must with this breed. While most Portuguese Water Dogs have a black coat, some are white or a mix of both. Their hair is curly or wavy and similar to that of the standard poodle. Grooming the Portuguese Water Dog involves a thorough brushing every other day, with professional clipping about once a month.

Hypoallergenic Traits

If an allergy to dogs is a main concern in your household, then this may be the perfect pooch for you. We’ve discussed the concept of hypoallergenic dogs before, and if you can deal with the high-energy demands of this breed, then a Portuguese Water Dog may be the paw-fect pooch for you! Due to their suspected lineage from Poodles, the Portuguese Water Dog has a single coat of hair that does not shed. Depending on the variety you get, the hair may be curly or wavy. In fact, this hair is remarkably similar to that of humans. But remember, your dog may still track allergens from the grass and dog park into your house, so be sure to brush and wash her often to maintain an allergen-free environment.

Health Concerns

The average life span of the Portuguese Water Dog is between ten and fourteen years. The only major health concern that runs common in the breed is Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), a genetic disease in which may cause blindness in both eyes. Other minor health issues may include hair loss, hip displasia, liver disease, Addison’s, distichiasis, and juvenile cardiomyopathy. If you decide to get a Portuguese Water Dog, we suggest getting your pup tested for liver, eye, and hip problems.

Portuguese Water Dog Rescue Groups and Breeders

The Portuguese Water Dog is not bred as often as the other breeds, so you’ll likely have to search for a local rescue group or breeder online until you find the perfect Portuguese pup of your dreams. (Try saying that five times in a row!)  Begin by contacting the Portugese Water Dog Club of America for breeders located near you.  Also, read our guide to finding the best possible breeder.

Hypoallergenic Dogs

If your allergies have kept you from adopting a loving pup, you’re not alone. Millions of people have some form of allergic reaction to dogs, which can range from minor skin irritation to life-threatening anaphylactic shock. But if you’re willing to do a bit of homework, then you’ve still got a shot at dog ownership. Despite your reaction to most canine breeds, you may be able to bring a hypoallergenic dog into your home.

Note: The concept of a “hypoallergenic dog” has been debated for years. Many believe the low-allergy breeds reduce allergic reactions as promised, while others are skeptical and think the concept of a “low-allergy” dog is a silly marketing ploy. As objective observers, we encourage you to speak to your dermatologist in addition to a local veterinarian for specific details and advice. But for the purpose of discussion, let’s review some common questions and concerns relating to the celebrated hypoallergenic dog breeds.

Dogs and Allergens
Non-hypoallergenic dogs tend to shed a lot. This is because their fur is often loose and dense, which traps pollen, dust, and dander. As the dog sheds its coat throughout the day, these particles are released into the air, carpet, couch, car, and anywhere else your pooch roams. Eventually, the allergens find their way onto your skin and eventually into your mouth and nose. These dogs may also have an undercoat, which is an additional thick layer of fur that protects them from harsh temperatures, water, or other environmental conditions. The undercoat is another culprit in allergic reaction as it can also trap dander is also shed frequently.

Also, some non-hypoallergenic dog breeds salivate more often than other breeds, which also leads to more allergic reactions. This is because dog saliva contains bacteria that many people are allergic to. Of course, a dog can’t control the amount of saliva she produces, so if you’re highly allergic, then be sure to select a breed that keeps their doggy spit to themselves.

Realize that you can have an allergy to dog fur, saliva, or any of Mother Nature’s particles that are picked up by your pooch. Therefore, the first step you should take is to visit a dermatologist and identify precisely which allergens cause your reactions. Then work backwards to find a suitable breed to match your allergy profile and lifestyle.

Hypoallergenic Dog Traits
Hypoallergenic dogs have shorter coats, and many don’t have an undercoat at all. While this lack of extra fur makes most hypoallergenic dogs unprepared for extreme climates, these pups may be just what the doctor ordered for allergy sufferers. The hair (notice we’re not calling it “fur” anymore) on these dogs is similar to that of humans, which means it typically won’t shed as frequently as non-hypoallergenic dogs. In fact, for low-allergy dogs, the hair may need to be trimmed regularly to prevent it from growing too long. And if hair itself is the problem, then some hypoallergenic breeds don’t have a coat at all. Oh, and here’s your trivia for today, a dog is considered “hairless” even if it has some hair on the paws and head. Also, hypoallergenic dogs don’t salivate as much as other breeds. As a result, when your pooch is cleaning herself, she’ll leave less bacteria behind.

Specific Breeds
As always, consider your lifestyle before selecting any dog, as this will impact your pup on a daily basis. Remember, smaller dogs are generally better for apartment living because they tend to have a quieter bark and require less room to run around. On the other hand, if you have a house, then you don’t have to worry about the upstairs neighbors, and you may also want to consider a larger breed that will be able to fully enjoy your huge backyard.

Here are five of the most popular hypoallergenic breeds. Of course there are dozens of other breeds for you to choose from, but we want to suggest a few to get you moving in the right direction. What’s your favorite low-allergy breed? Be sure to leave a comment and let us know!

The Poodle
Among the most popular dog breeds in general, the Poodle is usually the first low-allergy breed that comes to mind. Aside from the hypoallergenic qualities, a wonderful trait with Poodles is their versatility. Depending on which version you select: miniature or standard. Poodles are sporting dogs, service dogs, show dogs, guide dogs, and even lap dogs. It’s a very friendly breed and thrives on physical exercise, mental games, and constant human interaction. The Poodle is also considered one of the smartest and most obedient of dog breeds. They blend a spirit of adventure and playfulness with an irresistible personality that most people find adoring. The Poodle enjoys running, swimming, retrieving, and any other outdoor activity. They are also excellent with kids and other pets.

The Chinese Crested
The Chinese Crested is available in two varieties: the Hairless and the Powder Puff. Both are considered hypoallergenic. The Hairless, which is more common, actually has hair on its paws, head, and tail. The Hairless Chinese Crested loves to play outside, but due to its hairlessness, doesn’t fare well in cold weather. Actually, because they’re so small, you can exercise a Crested by just running it inside the house. These dogs love to jump and climb any everything, so be sure to maintain tight security to prevent injury or escape. Grooming requirements call for regular trimmings of the head, neck, tail, and feet. The Hairless Chinese Crested is prone to sunburn and acne, so be sure to purchase your pup a soothing moisturizer to keep her skin healthy and, for those outdoor days, an SPF-rated sun block. Aside from the skin care concerns, the Crested is very friendly and enjoys spending time with people and other pets.

Bishon Frise
These cuties are perky, playful, and maintain an overall happy-go-lucky outlook towards life. The Bishon is responsive, loving, and gets along great with children. On that note, Bishons require regular human contact, so don’t plan on leaving this pooch home alone all day while you’re at work. As for grooming, the Bishon Frise does not shed; however, some hairs may loosen and get entangled with the rest of the coat, causing it to mat. So you’ll need to brush your Bishon a few times per week to keep her tangle free. Also, the white puffy coat-a Bishon Frise signature- will need regular washes and trims.

Portuguese Water Dog
The Portuguese Water Dog absolutely thrives on human interaction, so personal attention is in high demand for anyone who owns one. An active lifestyle is also essential because these dogs can’t sit still for very long without being overtaken by the urge to run around. The Portuguese makes an outstanding family pet since they love children and other dogs. They have an endless amount of energy and will play all day long if allowed. Excellent swimmers, they are the perfect dog for boating trips, fishing expeditions and water games at the lake. If bored, the Portuguese Water Dog will become frustrated and destructive, so unless you want chew marks on the sofa, do not keep this breed cooped inside all day while you’re at work. Grooming requires a thorough brushing every other day, with professional clipping about once a month. The Portuguese Water Dog is not bred as often as the other hypoallergenic breeds, you’ll likely have to search for a breeder online until you find the Portuguese pup of your dreams.

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is an athletic and playful member of the Terrier Group. Fun-loving and always ready for the next adventure, these dogs are a joy to have around the children. Always on the lookout for a new friend, be it human or canine, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is friendly and ready for training. The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is available in four varieties: Traditional Irish, Heavy Irish, English, and American. The main difference is the size of the dog. This breed has a short coat that doesn’t shed much during the day. However, they will need to be groomed regularly to prevent clumping, matting, or skin rashes. The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier thoroughly enjoys exercise and wants to be around people as much as possible. But due to their size and energy levels, we don’t recommend this breed for apartment living. The Wheaten Terrier loves to run and bark, so a large backyard is a necessity. This is a largest dog on our list, so if the hypoallergenic toy breeds turn you off, then take a close look at this big contender.
