How to Have a Happy Dog

Published in 2008, this book is a pretty little pocket book. It features short descriptions of fun games you can play with your dog or puppy (peek-a-boo) and short games you can play with your dog and small kids ("Snoopy says...Sit!").  And cute things to show of too your friends (like "In-DOG-NITO") where you dress your little friend up in different hats, getting  her used to wearing things on her head. But this book is more "tips" than anything else.  It is a fun read, and you can flip from page-to-page without losing the essence of the book.  Unfortunately it never goes into depth about any one subject. West Highland Terriers are proud, cute and fun loving dogs.  The star of the book, City Dog: A Novel by Alison Pace, just happens to be Carlie, a West Highland Terrier that is true to type.  Carlie explains about her breed:  "The Westie will not be ignored!" The Monks of New Skete are famous to dog lovers around the world. Their now classic How to be Your Dog's Best Friend was the first dog book recommendation I ever received. And the person who suggested it was a writer herself—she claimed the dog manual was one of her all-time favorite books to read. And with chapters like, "Myths, Mutts and Monks" and "Discipline: The Taboo Topic", the monks cover every important topic. The New Skete Monks The New Skete monastery is located outside Cambridge New York, near Vermont.
